Price Check 2008 CPO ISF
Hey fellas,
I'm considering purchasing a 2008 ISF with 45k miles. It is CPO'ed and has 2 owners. The car definitely looks clean. I originally offered $36,000 before ttl but the lowest they can do is 38,000.
Is this a good deal? It's the color I want.

I paid around 41,500 (before ttl) for my 08 CPO IS-F with 24k miles and a extra set of snow tires and rims.
Go over the car (cabin filter, air filter etc)..just because its CPO doesn't mean they actually did anything to it (unfortunately)
The IS-F doesn't sell well...I'm sure you could walk away and it would be there in the future...however, if you are like me..when you want something, you want it NOW!

I bought my car in march and did a lot of shopping around the entire country. I was looking for an 08-09 with 30-40k and that price seems very good for a COP car based on what I had found.
What it really comes down to is the overall condition. Most dealers will repaint the bumpers and rims to cover previous damage. Often times right in the parking lot on the car! They will also try to repair leather damage, ect. Try to have any eye for those things because the repairs are always done at the lowest cost to the dealer and may not last.
COP doesn't always mean they followed the check sheet either....as mentioned previously. They will use the lowest cost tires, brakes, ect. They may also skip the non visual stuff like the cabin air filter even though the COP guideline says the car is to use OEM parts and have no cosmetic defects.
I flew to a dealer in Jacksonville FL. to buy an 08' with 33k on it. The car had dents and scratches on every panel, inside and out. I refused the car and got my deposit back. A week later it was on there web site with all the body damage repaied. They still wanted the same amount they tried to get from me with the damage! That just tells you they didn't spend much to fix the car.

No, it was a Hyundia dealer and not CPO.. Just an example I could use. I just find there to value in a car that is in its original condition. Sometimes people just look at the price and I think there is value in other aspects. Not saying this is an issue for the OP just throwing my thought process out there.
I bought my girlfriend a CPO 09' TSX as a gift last year and looked at about 30 with paint work.
I think the salesman thought I was nuts when I was happy to see light scratches in the rear bumper of the one I purchased
I would rather buy a car with small blemishes and have my body shop fix it correctly.
Having worked in a few new car dealerships I feel bad seeing what some people buy unknowingly.
I bought my car from a CL member who took very good care of it. There are some good rock chips in the nose but I looked right past that. I will have it fixed properly at the end of this summer and add a clear bra.

COP - slang for police officer
CPO - Certified Pre-Owned
Somehow I think someone searching for CPO might not find your posts. That would be a pity, you have some good advice.

I inquired about that same 08 SMG colored car at the Jax Hyundai dealership before i bought mine. It was there for a long time and i believe more than one person backed out of deal on it, i passed on it too. I paid $41k out the door for my 08 CPO MM with 30k miles on it about 3 months ago

I wonder if someone here has that car now.
Anyway, I think we are a bit off topic.
