IME, the JDM and US ECMs are pinned differently, sometimes even using different connectors to make it very challenging to do a direct swap. The Supras were even harder. JDM used a MAP system and the US models used a MAF system, so there was no possibility of interchange without a complete wiring harness/ECM/engine sensor change.
