Made a buddy feel bad about his S5.

I've got a friend that I haven't seen in a few months that I saw today. Since the last time we saw each other, we both got new cars... he got an S5 and I, of course, have an IS-F. Neither of us knew the other got a new car, so naturally that's where the conversation went. Now, like so many non-enthusiasts he wasn't familiar with the IS-F. He knew it was supposed to be the "sporty" model, but had no idea about the V8 or the horsepower. We decided to swap keys for a little drive down a few deserted back roads.
He took the lead in my car with me following in his. I switched it in to sport mode for him and put his car in dynamic mode (their version of sport). I thought he'd take it a little easy to be honest, but when he hit a point where the road takes a long sweeping left curve and then a good half mile straightaway, he unexpectedly took off. I tried to keep up in his car but he pretty steadily pulled away from me. Shortly thereafter he pulled over into a little parking area and said "wow, I thought my car was quick, but this thing is f-ing fast as $h!t" He then walked around the car again, wanted to take a look at it, and said, "man, what was I thinking... I should have looked at one of these!" Haha, it felt good, especially coming from an S5 owner because personally I think that car is drop-dead sexy both inside and out. It is definitely not as fast as the IS-F though.![Thumb Up](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Then, for no apparent reason on my way home, some kid in a 350Z with bolt ons (at least intake and exhaust from what I could hear) paced me on the highway then downshifted while rolling alongside me. I flipped it in sport mode again, downshifted to 4th, let him take off a little bit first, and then walked right by him with ease. Given than I'm way too old (and smart) to actually street race, I quickly shut it down after it was apparent there was no point. He pulled the stare straight ahead move as I slowed to 55mph to let him pass on by.
It's only been a week, but this car is FUN.

Coincidentally during the first few months of owning my F I also ran into a Z with boltons... mind you this was the first few months I was getting used to 416HP...coming from a 140HP Integra... so I over-revved not realizing where my RPM's were..... and still had him by 3-4 car lengths.
On a side note though, nobody ever drives my cars but me, let alone a car that's as powerful as the F is. It even took me a while to get used to 400+ HP.

One of my friends has an A5 and we were going up a hill and I gave him about a 5 car lead, I floored it, passed him going a 100. Easy.

Fun read. Thanks for the story. S5 LOOKs really sharp, but once you drive the F there's no going back. I think a lot of "performance" car owners would have similar reaction to the sleeper F.

Your F maybe faster...put both cars in the wet...maybe even a short autocross...and watch the Quattro AWD destroy the IS F. AWD > RWD in terms of traction and handling.
