Hi all,
Well, yesterday i drove my F to the Monticello Motor Club to attend a performance driving event hosted by Cadillac. No, i was not able to take the F on the track, but did get 4 hours of fun and instruction in the coupe/sedan/wagon of the CTS-V..
This was my first track day, other than parade laps around Watkins Glen-- and as expected, it was a blast! Day consisted of 1/2 hour of classroom instruction, then 1/2 hour of track time, alternating between 2 groups of 8 drivers. I was able to ride with 3 different instructors- one worked solely for the club, one was a pro F2000 series driver, and one an F1 racer. Impressive.
Since Caddy gifted me the driving program- i feel obligated to share. First off- in comparison to my F, it is close.. the caddy has 556hp, and the suspension i would give the edge.. but it is far from a blow-out. Mind you, i am comparing 08 Lexus to 12 Cadillac as well..
My F has the 4.09 rear end swap, fyi.. I found acceleration and braking quite comparable, the handling is very close as well. I rate the Cadillac seats better (but 4 yrs newer!).
I did not get much chance to toy with the auto/sport modes, so i may have been missing something, but i find the Lexus transmission much better in my experience. My F just "knows" when to shift, when to hold, etc. The Caddy liked to hunt for a gear, particularly on the carousel corner- which does not inspire confidence!
All in all- it was a fantastic day. I would most certainly consider the CTS-V for my purposes. If not for the whole "Government Motors" fiasco, and my lack of confidence in the long term life expectancy of the forced induction, I could be driving one.
Thanks for "listening"!

Uh, the Cadu has weight induced laziness on tight corners and the owners are complaining about a symphony of rattles from the seats, center console, shifter, and sunroof. there is also talk about sound complaints coming from the rear.
For a car with Sooo much horsepower, independent tests are placing the Cadu on a par with the F in 0-60 runs.
Buyer beware!
