Applicability

Introduction

Some 2008 - 2010 model year IS-F vehicle may exhibit a squeal or squeak noise from the rear of the vehicle when lightly applying the brakes. A new rear brake pad kit has been made available to address this condition.

Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
^ This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

Repair Procedure
1. Conduct a road test to verify the noise condition. Noise usually occurs during stops with light pressure applied to the brake pedal.

2. Remove and replace the rear brake pads and anti-squeal shims with the updated parts.

For complete removal procedures refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) applicable model year IS-F Repair Manual:

NOTE

^ When replacing rear disc brake pads, the anti-squeal shims MUST be replaced together with the pads.

^ When applying grease per the Repair Manual, use the grease enclosed with the rear disc brake pad kit or supplied grease: Part # 90998-94072.

3. Road test the vehicle to confirm the rear brake noise condition is NO longer present.

I just got new front brake pads in my 2011 earlier this week -- free under warranty for the TSB. I explained to them that I knew squeaking was part of the deal with a ventilated Brembo setup, but that mine was sounding ridiculously loud...like a public bus grinding to a stop. At any rate, now there's just a slight squeek right at the very end of the stop instead of a long, loud, drawn-out screech. I new pads don't have as much bite either. I don't know if this impacts stopping performance, but I'm satisfied with the end result.

I have had my front & rears supposedly replaced. It's been about 8 months since, & I'm getting insane squeal out of the brakes. Asked them to address this last visit, maybe two months ago. They said since they had replaced them, doing this again wouldn't help. Not satisfied with this and many other small but annoying issues ( a lot of cabin noises, and strong buffeting still on sunroof). Help, advice would be appreciated.

I had the same issue. Got mine replace about 4 months ago... and the squeezing noise much worst since then.

I will just a a +1 for the Wearever pads ...they do not bite as hard as the stocks but life is not (always) a race - meaning the bite good enough for daily driving and some "more fun" as well.

dust about 80% less than OEM's...again your wheels will thank you!

Anybody have the dealer replace a second time? What is brembo say?

^^ Agreed. Wearever has been great in IMO. I have the pads as well but their was a complain about 15% of the pads not touching the rotors. check out the link below. This has not been proven yet. I'm going to check my pads this weekend to see if i'm having the same issue.
