The GT-86 in that article is the Scion FR-S. Co-developed with Subaru. The BRZ is the Subaru version. Its an FR coupe that has a 2.0L NA boxer engine with 200 hp. I've wanted to test drive it but its been sold out since release at my brothers dealership. It would be a Celia replacement if you want to call it that but its supposed to be the successor to the 1986 Trueno (sports Corolla in Japan) which was the car from the Initial-D anime, hence the 86 designation.
