do you guys think a place like aamco will be able to work on this tranny? to me, it seems like its a specialized tranny...

I have a day to think it over...a few days actually...figure out what I want to do....GS F-Sport?

If its going to cost to much for repair/rebuild on the tranny. Just get rid of it. You should have no problem getting a good offer on a very clean ISF. I don't think the GS F-Sport is for you. The GT3 would look better on you.

The dealership up here offered me 18k for it... GT3 would look better...but honestly, as much as I always talk about it, I don't want to buy one right now..just doesn't make sense yet.

18K for an ISF with tranny problem. That dealership is trying to rob you. If you can wait long enough for the new ISF. It would be a good upgrade if they dont jacked up the price like the GTR. The GS F-Sport is a great car for DD, but I think you will miss the performance on the ISF. Also I think priced to much. I would just pay more for a performance car.

Don't lie down. They are saying they need to replace the whole thing because they don't fix those trans in the states.
Find a trans shop that will tear it open and fix the problem.
In the end, it probably a $200 dollar part and 1000 in labor.
I know it will be hard to find a shop that knows that trans, but look all over the country. You can always have a shop pull the trans and ship it off.
That trans is small and light, fairly easy to pull.

Have a sample of the trans fluid pulled, look and smell it.
If its fine that's a good sign.
The driving you did is nothing compared to what I or many others have done at the track, especially under nitrous.
I know the shifting solenoids malfunction on these trans from time to time.

dude, I highly doubt it's anything a local trans shop can't fix.

These are not dual clutch trans they are normal trans but with 8 gears.

That's the beauty of them... The operate mainly like the normal trans that we have had for years. Just they have 8 gears and they lock up for every gear.

I'm 1500-2 grand and you will be on your way driving home no prob..

Have you taken the car to the drag strip? Did you do many launches

I guess this is the problem. I'm essentially stranded and 600 miles from home so I need a car to get home. I don't have the time nor the patience to look around to find out who can service it. Right now, the car drives still so that's a plus of some sort, but if i I have a shop pull it, they can't figure it out, and they have to put it back and somehow something was put together wrong, then now i'm screwed even more.......I guess it's one of those things where I'm SORT OF stuck.

They said that the transfluid was crazy dirty. I haven't' gotten my written report yet. I'm going to get it today.

I've never taken it to the drag strip, however, i do drive it pretty hard on a daily basis getting on the freeway, overtaking people, hooning around...etc.

I'm heading to San Jose today to work until Thursday...working in Redwood City area on Friday...I'm going to leave the IS F at Lexus of Sacramento and come back on Saturday and figure something out. I might either leave with a 2013 GS350 F-Sport, or I'm also waiting to hear from the local Porsche dealership to see what they can find me. They have a orange GT3 in the showroom...$125k
