Hey Doc took your advice called carbotech today, spoke to a very nice guy by the name of Danny he was very helpful and recommended XP12 for front and XP 8 for the rear. i mentioned i was on a factory performance tire, and he said it should be fine. I also told him that i wont get the opportunity to beed them in the way the say you should at the track so for 20$ a pair the do it for you and you are ready to roll. Thank you for all your help, ill keep you updated after i test them out o the track.

Thank you for all your time
Very Truly
Rob

Glad you called them and got some info.... I am however confused how they can "bed in the brakes" before sending them to you.... As an important part of the bedding in process is getting the new pad material on the rotor.....
I'd save the $20 and just find an empty highway some early Saturday morning and break them in properly....
See here: http://stoptech.com/technical-suppor...and-procedures
More interesting info in the myth of warped rotors..... But also useful info regarding breaking in brakes pads and depositing pad material on the rotors etc....iirc

You will need a micrometer to measure your rotor thickness. Here is an example of a digital version not that you need to spend $50 on one.

As Doc mentioned the spec is on the rotor. You will find it on top of the outside edge of the disk.

XP10 fronts with stock rear will probably throw your brake bias more to the front then you want.

Doc, thank you so much for your suggestion regarding Carbotech brake pads, and thank you to all who have contributed to this thread. I must say its amazing, the brakes bite like crazy and pedal feel stays firm at all times. honestly going about 130, and braking into 60-50 zone is done with ease and car feels stable. you dont even have to put much work into it, i never even stepped on the brakes hard. Even though it sounds like a train on a daily basis, everyone around you turns their heads looking at you like WTF i still love the way it feels when you hit the brakes, gives it a more exotic feel. I did however get the feeling that its more brakes than tires, so next project will be either getting a set of tires for he course or set of wheels and tires. ER Doc will need your help on this

The biggest drawback to running race pads on the street is rapid rotor wear (and noise). When the brakes are cold, they chew through the rotors pretty fast.

I swap between race and street pads all the time. Never had any issues with "worn" rotors and new pads either. The pads bed in, and work just fine.

I have a set of cryo treated stock rotors on the front now. I haven't done a track day in a long time, but I'll be hitting VIR on November 17 & 18 with Carolina's PCA, and hitting CMP December 1 & 2 with Turn One events. I'll be running XP12 fronts and XP10 rears. It's what Carbotech recommends, and for CMP, you need everything the XP12s can deliver. Faster tracks won't need as much fade resistance, but CMP is brutal on pads (and rotors).

Pagid makes pads to fit our rotors. Just look for the Mercedes SLK 55 AMG '04 pads. Same calipers. The pad designation is 8005, so you can search the web pretty easily using this DOT specification. Just don't cry when you get quoted $650 per axle.

Here's a pretty good summary of what is available to fit our front brakes.

Usually not worth it for a used rotor.

These guys won't touch used rotors:

They've been in business for a long time.

Ordered front oem pads as soon as i got the chance, was hoping to have the opportunity to use carbotech for daily driving since ER DOC mentioned he uses his and they still last him a long time. But i guess by swapping in and out OEM and racing pads will extend both pads and rotors life.

Carbotech race pads have super strong initial bite. You'll be bouncing off the belts for the first few days just getting used to how light a touch you need for street braking. The wife always complains on the drive home from the track because I don't usually change pads until we get home. They're also VERY noisy unless you're using them as intended.
