Default terrible quality of FXauto carbon fiber

So I waited over 3 weeks to get my orginal carbon fiber parts wrapped by FX Auto. I get the parts and notice the cupholder had a larger carbon weave then the rest of the kit and also the carbon was starting to seperate from the priginal part. I contacted FX about this. He said the cupholder was from the previous supplier in China they used, and that he will send me another cupholder with the same tight weave from the new Chinese supplier.

Today I get the new cupholder, and it has the nice tight weave to it. I go to take off the center console to install the new cupholder, and notice the entire rest of the 7-piece kit is also seperating....and to ad to that, the new cupholder is not as high as the rest of the carbon fiber, so now it sits about 1/4" too low. I advise all of you to check your pieces before too much time goes by, and also realize al this stuff is getting wrapped in China.

I should have gone with Carbon Fiber Elements in the beginning as they are cheaper, located in N.J., and I've had work done by them before and there is no shipping your parts off to China and waiting to get them back.

Center console right side:

Notice the difference in cupholder thickness (you can also see the old cupholder from the different supplier starting to crack too):

So to sum up, the old supplier wrapped these parts inferior as did the "new" supplier, and the parts don't line up. All this after waiting over three weeks for the parts!

That's really bad craftsmanship! You're right, stick to businesses that have been dealt with before and stuff like this won't have to happen! And it is definitely better to support stateside businesses too!

Terrible there.

Can I ask how much was the service? So we all can learn and try to figure out what an "average" price is, as sometimes pricing can be an indication. Thanks.

$575 for the 3 center consoe pieces and the 4 window switch pieces.

I would say I guess you get what you pay for, but in this case, I paid more for FXAuto o do the work than wht Carbon Fiber Elements would have charged me had I gone with them.

FXAuto is going to ship me new OEM pieces and a full refund as long as I send my Chinese pieces back to him, but if you knew what I went thru to get the carbon piecs i the first place

So FXAuto said if I send the back the defective pieces (all 7), they would refund my $575 and give me new OEM parts so that I could send those off to a different company to have wrapped in CF.

So here's what they send me:

4 brand new switch panels...and SOMEONES USED CENTERSOLE WHERE THE CUPHOLDER LID DOESNTLINE UP AND THE BACK OFTHE CENTER CONSOLE IS MISSING A RED PLASTIC THING THAT HOLDS THE CHROME FIRM ON THE FRONT SIDE.

I'll tell you, FXAuto just keeps on surprising me (not in a good way of course).

I never would have noticed the carbon fiber seperating from the pieces if I hadn't had to replace the cup holder lid. It wasn't anything you could see from sitting in the seat looking down. May want to check your stuff out.

Man, for Carbon Fiber wrapping needs, I would only deal with Tony at CFE. He's extremely talented, has great prices and awesome customer service. He did all my CF in my 370Z and it was all on-point. I'm not saying he's the only great CF artist out there but he's the Mobile 1 of CF wrapping
