You go to Sewell's page (is.sewellparts.com), register and put your CL name in the registration, and you'll immediately see the discounted price. Best of luck with the windshield repair!

A few of you may remember me from earlier this summer. I am the guy who had the king kong of birds take a dump on my car the day after I spent hours washing it. Anyway, on the way to work this morning, in the exact same spot, the car in front of me throws up a nice sized (what I assume was a) rock, I hear a loud pop, and next thing I know, right in my line of sight is a half-inch star-looking crack in the windshield. SOB!
So this all brings me to my question. What the hell do I do? Do I try to get one of those places which can supposedly fix small cracks to take care of it. Are any particular companies reputable at doing this? Or is it better to try to get the entire windshield replaced? I would hate to do that because I know no windshield can ever be installed to the same standards as the factory. And if anyone if familiar with any particular windshield repair/replacement shops in the Chicago area please let me know.
Thanks

If you opt to have you shield replaced, DO NOT have it replaced at the office. It will need to seat in and seal for 24 hours.

Well the Safelite guy came out and patched up the crack for $50. Insurance does not cover these types of repairs (as of a few years ago apparent), or so I've been told by my State Farm agent. After googling a bit, it looks like he's not necessarily BSing me.
The Safelite guy was pretty straight forward and seemed to be pretty careful with his work (not that there was that much to do). The patch seemed to have worked pretty we, and while I can still see the impact point and little remnants of the crack itself, I hope the resin prevents it from spreading, saving me from needing a new windshield.
