Default IS-F v. 997 Carrera

Ran into a 997 style Carrera last night. Not sure if it was an S or not because the car did not have any badges. Car had aftermarket exhaust for sure, not sure if it had anything else. It was a manual as I could hear him shifting.

Anyways, we got one good run in from about 40- 110. IS-F jumped out by about half a car and continued to slowly creep. IS-F was about 1 1/2 car up when we shut it down. Was a good run and pretty close but the IS-F edged him out.

My car has a Takeda intake and muffler deletes. He gave me a thumbs up and complimented me on the car. Anyone else have any experiences with the Carrera's?

highway i have beaten a few base carreras but on a track they will own as they are much lighter, corner better and can brake much faster

Low"ish" torque in the flat 6. where they excel is in "flow" around a track being able to maintain speed into and out of corners. So, apples and oranges. The Porsche is a fun car (had a '02) but a reliability nightmare. Love my ISF!

The only car I would take over my 2010 ISF is Porsche 997 gt3. (2007-2008 model year)
Anyone else?

I do love the 997's but I think I'd be dissapointed power wise if i owned one.

I'm guessing the one I ran was an S considering how close it was.

911 Turbo
911 Turbo Cabriolet
911 Turbo S
911 Turbo S Cabriolet
911 GT3
911 GT3 RS
911 GT3 RS 4.0
911 GT2
911 GT2 RS

I would take all of those over the F any day of the week.

I would never try to race any of those models as they are way to fast for the F to even have a decent showing. Though all other models I believe the F will beat.

I have a 2012 997.2 Carrera S stick with factory sport exhaust, sport seats and lsd. I got a great deal on a leftover one when new 991 came in. The flat 6 sounds really good when you are really on it. It is a great car, it feels a lot more nimble than the ISF. They are two different type of cars. You do have to keep the revs up above 4k though. I think it will be a classic. The 991 is nice but feels too big and luxurious.

Nice..... IMO, it was probably not an S. Even though, after researching I have found articles saying the Carrera runs a 0-60 in about 4.7 and the S in 4.5, the 4 in 4.8, the 4S in 4.5, the GTS in 4.2,and the mighty Turbo in 3,2 seconds..... All of those times are according to C&D articles.

I'll never forget one night back when I had my 08 M3, I rolled up next to a blue 997 Turbo at a stop light. It was around 3 am and of course he started to rev on me I knew I would be killed but hey, why not??? The light changed to green and I floored it. I couldnt beleive Ijumped out ahead of him for maybe 2-3 seconds when this thing blew by my like I was standing still...... Sounded like a jet aircraft!!!!! LOL...

Back when I had my Camaro SS I ran a Carrera S at the local Drag strip and actually got the win because he missed second gear (MT). He then proceded to run faster E.T.s and MPH the rest of the night lol. But hey it was still good fun!
