Let's put it this way: The M3 is in "Need For Speed". The IS-F isn't.... But of course a land rover is in NFS so ....close race with both stock...

He's not comparing the ISF to an e36 M3. He just pointed out that he's a Lexus guy and his friend is a BMW guy to show their respective bias. I am sure they were comparing the ISF to the E90/92 M3.

E36 has to be lighter. F should trounce it though

For E90/92, from a standstill M3 could beat an F. Roll, F torque dominates the M3

LOL This is a funny question.

Edit: The drag race should find the IS F the victor every time. If the IS F has the newer suspension, the race will be between drivers.

At this time when Ms are having catastrophic engine failures, I suggest leaving the limiters.

What do you mean "at this time", they have always been having catastrophic engine failures

The funny thing is that the majority of M3 owners are arrogant fanboys... so if you post this up in the M3 forums, at least 75% of them will say "M3 is obviously faster"......whereas you look at this thread, ISF owners say it's a drivers race, which is correct IMO.

The two cars are equal on so many levels especially if you factor in the various revisions to the suspension and differential in 2010+ models. For me, the lower compression and torque surge of the 2UR-GSE coupled with the super close gearing make the ISF a much better street car for the times when I want immediate and extreme acceleration to get out of a pickle or drive around nonsense. The M3 takes a bit longer to wind up -- a track advantage that is not as practical on the street. From a dig it's a driver's race leaning towards the M3 but it's a driver's race leaning towards the ISF from a roll. I've played with a few in short bursts on empty roads (E90 and E92) and it's a waste of time and gas. If you really want to get an M3's goose, get at one before it has a chance to gear its engine up. You'll be so far gone they won't even try.

well I have never owned or driven an ISF (soon hopefully)

But looking at videos and people's suggestions I believe it would be down to the driver to make a difference between the two.

I saw an interesting video yesterday, ISF Vs. 2012 GT Mustang

Now in this clip the Mustang is always pulling on the ISF, from the comments it seems like the driver is not in the right gear and is holding very low RPMs which is why the Mustang keeps pulling.

Not to mention the dude driving the mustang is shifting like a monkey on steroids (i.e. fast crisp shifts for a manual tranny)

Now then I saw the below clip:

You can see the ISF just pulls like mad as soon as they start racing and the GT doesn't seem to have a chance of catching up.

So my conclusion is it's all down to the driver and how the car is driven.

But then again what do I know I've never driven either car.

in that first bid, you can tell by the sound of the rpm, the ISF was never in the right gear which is why the stang always had a jump.

but before buying the F, knowing that the lexus was just as fast as the new 5.0 mustangs, i was ecstatic , lol. because they are quick.

Pretty even IMO, so it all comes down to driver.

And the car. The F has the fastest shifting tranny in a production vehicle. The car is just amazing for what it is.

I don't believe that's true anymore. I think that the BMW actually "Shifts" faster , but is slower when all driver interactions are considered.

All the DCTs are quicker shifting than the F. It is what it is, physics always wins.

The track advantage of the E90/92 M3 is no more. The last Lightning Lap of VIR has the F dead even with the M3 at 3:05.4. Sadly a host of Mustangs are quicker, and even the Corvette Z51 has bus lengths on the F and the M.
