The "tank avg" gauge is killing my fun!

Funny how in 2008 when premium was pushing $5 a gallon, no one talked like this at all.
Fuel economy was a considerable part of my decision to get the F over a C63 AMG when owners of the Benz were reporting 12 mpg as "typical" and I was seeing 21 mpg in the F commuting 22 miles each way daily. Surely a lot has changed since then, but fuel prices aren't going to stay this ridiculously low for long. The industry can't sustain it.

Anyone see any decreased MPG from adding an aftermarket exhaust (assuming you don't become more of a lead foot just to hear the noise)? I had an 08 ISF prior to this one and I regularly got 16-17 MPG per tank with a mostly 80-20 city/hwy split on my commute. Now I get maybe 13-14 MPG in this 2011 car only difference being the exhuast.
At first I thought my poorer than average MPG was because I threw an O2 sensor CEL a few weeks ago and replaced the two downstream O2 sensors on each side with new Denso parts. I expected my MPG to improve afterwards, but two tanks later it's more or less the same.

I get 18 city at the moment. 12 mile commute to and from work. I try to stay off the throttle too much. But every time I fill up, I have to leave the gas station and do a full throttle pull to make sure the car still has it lol.

I notice that you usually get 2-3 more mpgs when you drive with the traction control and VSM off. This is made evident on a really long trip to my cousin's wedding. After I fueled up I instantly noticed that it was 25 mpg on the highway instead of the 27 I was getting before.
