Default Possible Issue after JoeZ exhaust install

I'm getting thud sound/feeling right after I had my shop install my Joe Z exhaust. I would say it seems like it's coming from the driver rear.

I took it to Lexus and they couldn't find anything wrong with the car. It has only done it a couple times, during a gradual slowdown.

Lexus said maybe the bigger exhaust is rubbing up against something. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there something I can do?

gotta drive it around and continue listening. which is going to be hard because all you want to do is listen to your exhaust. if you hear a noise, try and go back on that same road and drive over the same area to see if you can replicate it so that you can narrow it down.

The shop that installed my joez system trimmed the corners off a brace near the front by the trans. They do this automatically because of banging or rubbing issues from previous installation's. Sorry I don't have any pics.

Make sure all the rubber hangers were installed when they installed the exhaust. I had this issue when my shop installed the exhaust...it was missing a exhaust hanger in the middle and it was rubbing due the exhaust moving around...Darshana S...

He could be talking about the car backfiring. Somewhat sounds like a thud. That's my guess.

That's exactly what I was going to say. Mine only does it if I leave it in 3rd gear in manual mode and let it gradually slow down to almost a stop. Then it does a little pop.

I have never had any noises, you should not have to trim anything with this exhaust.

i know all the rubber hangers are in place, i watched them install the exhaust. Also, they removed and left off the brace near the trans.

Did you buy the exhaust new or used? I used to have this exhaust and I too had some rubbing. Ended up shaving one of the under braces. I believe the newer versions addressed this problem.

Ya im 99% sure it is the car backfiring especially since he said its when he slowing down. That is the only time I ever get backfires. its like you let the car coast then it drops down in rpm really low and you slightly put your foot back on the gas you will get a back fire.

the last time it did it, i was slowing down for my street and felt the "thud" come from the rear. Wasn't getting back on the gas at all. I bought the exhaust new. I will look at all the rubber hangers today.

You're hearing this sound when you're going in a straight line right? And you're not going over any pot holes or bumps?

You may hear the exhaust backfire even if you don't go back on the gas. I hear it all the time even with my stock exhaust. It's normal and if you ask me it makes the car sound more menacing!

This is what I've come up with.

I got under the car and simply pushed up with little force on the driver side muffler pipe and it is hitting the bottom of the shock mount. There is about maybe a 1/2" or less of travel until they will touch.
