Default Keep '09 or go for '11

Hello everyone,

Avid reader but not a frequent poster.

So, I have an 09 without LSD, and warranty is running out in 2 months. I am not sure to get extended warranty or go for a lower mileage model with LSD.

Currently have about 55,000 miles on it and looking at a newer one with 18,000 miles on it.

Are the 10-15k difference worth it? I really am not sure, also since the car is racking up the miles and worried about value and things having to be fixed.

Greetings from ze germahn autobahn.

55k mileage from a reliability standpoint compared to 18K is nothing in a Lexus.

The LSD will make a noticeable difference if you track. I don't think it is worth the 10-15K difference from a value standpoint.

You can get the LSD and upgrade the suspension to better the 2011 suspension for less than 10K.

Unless you're taking the car to the track, and you're a very proficient driver already, having the LSD isn't going to make you any faster / slower.

I have 94k miles on my IS F...no problems other than I had to replace the transmission 7000 miles ago.

Any plans at looking at buying a different car? You're from Germany...get a Porsche!

Hey,

What was the reason for the tranny change?

I do track the car. It has seen a few laps on the nordschleife. I'm worried about Milage more then the rest.

Keep the '09, get the extended warranty. Not worth an extra $10k-$15 to trade. The mileage isn't a problem. Keep up on maintenance and you'll see another 55k easy. You could switch in a new LSD or swap to a newer ISF diff and save a ton of $$.

1 Year extended warranty costs around 800$ and 3 year over 2,000$. Diff looking at 1,500$ ish plus install and and now then an inspection plus 120 point check to get the extended which prolly adds up to 500-800$. Plus pads and brakes at some point; 500-1000$

So, about 3300$ to 5,800$ to have an equal level.
That's why it's such a drag.

P.S. I found the thread on the tranny.

Even if you had to shell out $5800, that's less than half what you're talking about to upgrade to an '11 (which will need maintenance down the road too). Plus, you can do the brake job yourself and save a lot of cash there. Your choice obviously, but I don't see trading into an '11 being worth the money.

I thought about doing this but im keeping my 08 and i just bought a lsd out of a 2011 for under a grand. There isnt enough difference in the car and this thing will drive into the hundreds of thousands of miles if you wanted it too. So well built.
