p21s gel formula let it sit for two hours and wash off. You may have to do a tiny bit of scrubbing but it works the best.

I've been wondering the same, haven't seen any issues elsewhere, but I figured it was only a matter of time

IronX is the only thing that has really impressed me. They have a gel and a spray and it changes colors to let you know it's doing its job. I usually do my wheels at least once a month just to get out the corners of my where's where the dust naturally settles. It's also safe for painted surfaces so after a road trip I'll hit up the fenders to see all the iron from the brakes go away to avoid pitting the paint. Ironx is a neutral unlike a lot of other acid based products that are out there. Only problem is you can't usually find it locally but there are plenty of places online such as autogeek. Good luck!

I changed my pads out to aftermarket ceramic pads and it's like night and day difference in brake dust. Now all I use is soap and water once a week and wheels are like new. I used to use Sonax on my wheels when I had factory pads and it worked great but would be covered in dust a couple days later.

YGBSM!
Small amount of inexpensive soap, various sponges sizes and 30 min, including cleaning between the nuts, shiny black caliper and the back side of each wheel spoke. Optimum Opti-Seal once a month would help too.

After cleaning them you should coat them with CQuartz or nanolex alloy wheel protector. It makes cleaning them a lot easier.

2 hours is a little excessive IMO.

OP, you would also want to get a special teflon brush for wheels and scrub them after spraying the P21S and then hose them off.

I personally take off the wheels off the car once a year and clean them by hand, then seal them.

Letting the brake dust sit there and cake on the wheels will damage the finish, and putting ceramic pads will cut on the braking performance.

Sonax Wheel Cleaner is what I've been using, and it certainly does the trick. Sprays on green and turns purple when the grime has been penetrated. Safe on all wheel types. I've always recommended it to friends, and they've had nothing but great praise for this product. I'm more than certain a few vendors here sells it on their sites.
