Default Emergency towing from rear eyelet safe?

Manual says to not tow ISF backwards with all four wheels on ground or damage to transmission may occur? SO why do they have a rear eyelet socket?? This would be for track low speed emergency towing only and only if towing from front was not accessible. Anyone have any valid info on this?

I assume to pull or extricate you out you out of a ditch or snow bank in an emergency, it will not matter at that point.
A wheel dolly can also be used in conjunction with a tow hook, they do not necessarily use the drive wheels.

Ya, I suspect the transmission may overheat if towed in neutral at higher speeds for long distances since the motor is off and no converter spinning. That's probably why they made that statement in the manual.
