Good bye fellas. :(
It is with deepest regrets that I say goodbye to my fellow IS-F brothers. It isn't official yet, but it's definitely going to happen. I'm unloading my IS-F (2008, Obsidian with PPE black ceramic headers, FIGS 2 pc rotors, Borla SS catback exhaust, brand new Michelin Pilot Super Sports, and BC coilovers with swift springs). I'm trading it in for a measly 33,000 (unless somebody wants to offer more). I'm keeping the 18" Volks with brand new PA4 winter tires on it (with TPMS sensors) in case anybody wants to give me an offer. It'll be up for sale in the next couple of weeks at the dealership and if you guys want more details, you can PM me.
So, what am I getting? 997 Turbo S... Took it for a test drive today and I had a ***** eating grin from ear to ear (like when I first got into the F 5 years ago). I'll post pictures after I get back from vacation with my new ride. I'M NOT GOING TO MOD!! I JUST spent 6K a few months ago just to sell it. What an idiot I am.

that's unfortunate but great news at the same time!
doesn't matter if you won't have the F in your immediate possession, it will be stored as precious memories.
997 turbo S is a beast..congratulations!
also, I believe the porsche community isn't like the other snobby "german" car forums
good luck, and what is the mileage on your car?

Honestly, I don't have the old parts to part out (I'm an idiot AGAIN). It's such a sad day because the rotors are only 3K miles old, headers and borla and BC racing were JUST installed last fall!!! I could've used that 6K for part of a down payment and the dealership is giving me NOTHING towards my mods. LOL Oh, if anybody wants to buy my 3.5 pound lithium battery, and is local to pick it up, pm me. Oh, and winter 18" VOLK RE30s with Michelin PA4s WITH sensors (3K miles on them).

I don't think the IS-F sold well in Illinois. They work great in the snow with winter tires but for some reason, they just didn't sell well.
I loved the F and would have happily kept it but after experiencing a 4wd launch (0-60 in 3 seconds, 0-100 in 6 1/2 seconds) I just feel like I need AWD. I considered the GT-R, but honestly, the GT-R next to my IS-F looks like a down grade. The 997 Turbo S next to the F seems like only a small upgrade (but unfortunately, a huge upgrade in price).
With 0-60 numbers under 3.0 seconds, I have NO DESIRE to mod. I just don't need anymore power. The thing was clawing for traction up to 60 mph with awd!!! It has the carbon ceramic brakes too and centerlock forged alloy rims. I don't even want to "tune" it. Keep it stock - factory warrantee for another 2 years!
I know it's probably going to sound horrible... but I am having snow tires mounted on it right now. Yeah, I'm going to DD it everyday until the thing croaks.

It is bittersweet to see another F owner moving on.. but the bright side: you're getting an insane machine in exchange! I've always marveled at the 997 along with the GT-R because of their impressive numbers. I'm glad to hear that you will DD the Porsche! Cars are meant to be driven, especially sports cars!
