Default Worst GPS system ever!

Dont know about you guys, but the navigation system in my 08 ISF is probably the worst ever!!!

Once you start moving, seems like all is locked and you cant do anything....I like the ability to search for a destination once on the highway! Maybe I am doing something wrong or else is there a workaround this?
Also I heard about modifications such watching DVD while riding, usb drives add on, etc...Who and where can I get some infos.

Thanks

Beat Sonic sells products that can by-pass the "lock down" features of the navigation system. For extra features Vaistech sells the ML+.

Who needs the factory nav when the nav apps on phones work so much better?

Do you know if the ML+ by passes the lock down?

i don't know if its just me or what, but I do like the nav on my 09 ISF...i guess its probably because I came from an non-nav unit car.

I've been using this Nav override product for over 4 years...

100% problem free and it works great!!! Best part about it, is that it is 100% plug & play and reversible..

NO WIRE HACK JOBS, which VOID the entire Nav & Radio units..

Never looked back after buying it.

Also, recently got the latest Nav update disc which works great too.

I'll admit that the lock out while in motion gets irritating. But it is a safety measure that actually works. I have the Beat Sonic NAV bypass not to fiddle with the navigation so much but rather to play DVDs while in motion. I'll admit, I do like the convenience of inputting while driving as opposed to waiting for a red light to quickly input an address or a destination, but having been the recipient of someone who did the same thing only to rear end me later, sometimes a safety feature bests convenience.

On a side note, I really wish there was a screen lock out for cell phones so that idiots on the roads can't text or talk while they drive.

After searching in the forums, I will be getting the prestigeous one.

But there's a function that I am not sure I understand.... One of the key features says" •Browse music folders and playlists from MP3 discs and/or HDD audio sources." but then in FAQ it states no inputs source and then again, works with ipod kits???

For the people that use this item, besides removing the lock down and having the video in motion, can you connect such has ipod, usb, etc...

I was thinking the same thing, except on my 08 ISF, I think the nav is totally pointless. It promps me to follow the highlighted route. I f I don't follow the high lighted route, it doesn't redirect me... also doesn't tell me turn by turn directions. I stopped trying to use it and play with the settings a month after buying the car and have been using my cell phone instead :/

There are 2 while-car-is-in-motion lockdowns...

(1) "nav" which includes browsing mp3 folders, entering nav destinations, accessing the phonebook, placing calls

(2) "dvd" which will allow video

The "browse folders" basically means browse music.

Without a nav bypass your can't browse an iPod using the nav screen once the car is moving. The folder/file buttons get disabled. If you burn a disc with mp3's on it now, once your moving all you can do is click Next Track/Previous Track. You can't touch the screen to switch folders. Same concept/interaction applies to an iPod.

I've got the BeatSonic nav+dvd bypass in addition to an iPod integration kit. I haven't looked back. Some ipod kits include the nav bypass, some don't. The ML+ is the grand-daddy though...I'm pretty sure it does it all.

WAZE app...it is all you will need.

Yes the factory system in the 2008 ISF sucks, but it really isn't as bad as many other systems that were on the market in that year. As others have already said there are multiple NAV hacks on the market.
