Good info, thanks for sharing, l've got a 2012 ISF and pretty happy with the steering feel. I'll stick with it.

The 89650-53042 (2013-2014 only) is also like a 2-3 month special order from Japan. I ordered a couple back in late December. One should be arriving in a few weeks, the second sometime in March. Not sure if they had to make them from scratch or what.

Question

For cliff notes... What would MY08 benefit from updating to the -42 last unit???

89650 COMPUTER ASSY, POWER STEERING
89650-53042

Production dates / part #s
- STEERING ECU

89650-53040 (12/2007 - 07/2010)

89650-53041 (08/2010 - 07/2012)

89650-53042 (08/2012 - 07/2014) end production of IS F

@illwillem

Guess I'm adding to my list modding while stuck at home !!!

The RC F Torsen LSD update was a Fun project / upgrade

Yes, either -41 or -42. There's nothing "wrong" with the -41 unit on my 2012, but I've never driven an 08-10 or a 13-14 to compare. So easiest for me is to just swap in the -42 unit for a direct comparison.

2013/2014 ECU installed, videos below. VERY impressed and happy with the ECU.

2012 ECU (includes suspension comparison because I also upgraded to 2013/14 suspension)

Glad you like the -42 steering ECU upgrade! definitely made a difference on my car as well, but I went from the -40 to the -42 so it was very noticeable😎

Kinda been following this thread and I might have to put this on my "to do" list. Been looking for things to do to refresh the car some, the 08 could definitely use some love/small upgrades. Good info you guys
