Just for the hell of it I was messing around with removing my F and adding similar MY vehicles...something I found
2009 GT-R - increase of $29
2008 M3 - decrease of $57
2008 Porsche 911 - decrease of $90 (dafuq?!)
2009 C63 - decrease of $93
Surely something is up with those numbers right ? Why does the F cost so much ?
This is all on a 6 month premium

Well yes obviously all of those play a part but the only thing that should play a part in me getting a quote for changing a vehicle is the price/availability of parts which is what I don't get. I thought surely the cars I plugged in would high considerably higher part prices, yet all but the GTR are much cheaper to insure (and the GTR is only an extra $29 which blows my mind)

Even if it is more expensive to fix a 911 than a WRX STI for example, I wouldn't be surprised if the latter was more expensive to insure. Certain kinds of people gravitate towards certain cars, and usually it isn't some silly, unjustified stereotype.

Price from car to car will be determined on how many are wrecked, stolen, totaled, each year or how frequent the claims happen since the car came out.
Porsche and GTR are probably cheaper to insure because most aren't totaled, wrecked or stolen frequently. They are less likely to be daily driven as well. So the risk of claims being filed on them for damages to insurance are considerably less.
When I had a GTO (04 and 05) both were totaled, and not by me driving like a douche LOL. The insurance on the cars were about $130 a month. These cars were FREQUENTLY either stolen or totaled.
In my 04 someone backed into me in a parking lot and scraped the front headlight, fog light and dented the fender and bumper. The job ended up costing $3700 in damages. The GTO is costly to repair (most all the parts need to be sourced from Australia ) and from 04-06 only 40,000 of them made it to the U.S.
Really depends on the car. Some cars are just a nuance for ins. co's. So the owners are taxed more on their rates because of it.
