if the lights arent too far gone you could use a fine abrasive liquid such as
the kits sold. before you do that though, if youd like to save some money you could
try toothpaste. no joke. its super fine abrasive, thats how its cleans our teeth.
if the liquid abrasive doesnt work youll have to use the sand paper method.
either way, your head light plastic will eventually start to fade/yellow again
so it's best to apply a UV blocker to help fight/slow the process.
ive never bothered with the UV blocker **** though and it isnt an absolute necessity

Use toothpaste or Meguiar's Plastx using a foam pad. Apply it using side-to-side and up-and-down motions, essentially you're buffing the headlight until you're satisfied with how it looks. After that apply some plastic sealant with UV protection to keep it from yellowing sooner.
For a more permanent approach, sand it down a bit and have a shop spray a good clear coat over it. That will stop the yellowing process and if the clear is hard enough it can resist chips too.

As mentioned just remember to apply a UV resistance sealant back to them after you do the correction or they will just yellow right back over even faster (as the process to get them clear is essentially removing all the layers of UV protection in the plastic to begin with).
