Just totally bummed me out. Just someone being careless obviously. Anybody have any experience with Colors on Parade or any other place that does minor repairs? I'd hate to have a body shop re-do the entire door.

have your tried some rubbing compound / polish? Doesn't look too bad...

if the bare metal is showing - touch up paint can fill it...

^^ that. It actually doesn't look that bad but try the above first, especially the touch up paint if it is deep. Dr. Colorchip is a good touch up kit. No need to spend hundreds to repaint the whole thing.

Apparently Colors on Parade only does plastic pieces (i.e. bumper, mirror covers, etc.). I inquired about them last week after my tool shelf collapsed in my garage, causing my pick axe to fall and scrape my door. NOT...HAPPY

I got a slight door ding/crease and paint transfer from what appeared to be someone opening their car door in to mine that I just noticed a few weeks ago. After an appropriate period of cursing, I used some of whatever the highest end Meguires polishing compound is on it and it took out all but the faintest scratches and paint transfer. You can't even see it unless you get about a foot away and stare at the spot. There is a slight indentation though, and for that I'll need to get a paintless dent removal or just live with it.

No matter how careful you are, you just can't prevent everything.

Clay bar! I did that to a "paint rub" from some jack *** on girlfriends SUV. Worked like a charm.

Thanks for the ideas guys! Actually, it looks worse than the pic represents. It's a whole piece of paint missing. Not quite down to the metal but its definitely a good chip. I may try that Doctor Color chip and see if it does anything.
