my first run was 8.8 (crap R/T). I was a full 1.5s slower by my last AM run. could not get any traction from 3k in first all the way to the 2-3 upshift. took a break for lunch to regroup and think things over.
after tinkering with traction control (on/off), tire pressure, how much throttle/engine load @ launch, I was back down to 9.3 but still fighting the same traction issues. shut it down after nine runs.
(Joe Z intake, 275/30-19's in the rear, and an empty trunk.)

I've got a few guesses, but mostly centered around track prep.
that, and it's not hard to lose traction w/ the F, given its broad, linear torque curve.
since almost everyone was running street tires, I would guess that we were hampered by a street compound that didn't react well on the track. on the other hand, RMM_GS4's supercharged GS400 was running NT05R's, and on one AM run he was fighting with traction issues off the line and all through first gear (made for an interesting pass, if anyone has a video of that).
temperature and humidity could be ruled out, since it was cooler and slightly more humid (denser air?) than previous years' meets.
