the ISF suffered because it was a sedan with sedan styling and poor rear passenger comfort. people dont care about lap times, only enthusiasts do. going forward, lexus will finally offer a coupe in the F line, the RC F. and for the sedan, they will upgrade to the GSF which has more room and luxury. i dont think the ISF is dead per se, but i dont think its coming back anytime soon. they may wait until the 3IS is nearing the end of its cycle to inject some life back into the 3IS.

Ahem...Gentlemen. Going off on a tangent, but trying to keep this thread alive. 2015 GS-F, except no fender vents on this version.

There's been a lot of unnecessary speculation & debate on the design motif, regarding the 2015 RC headlights. However, the pics below look pretty authentic. Taillights need not be discussed, as they have already been previewed.

I heard rumor they might have a V8 with turbos. That would be sick. Its only a matter of time before the GS-F roll out.

OMG! These pics are confusing my resolve next year to get a GT-R. Can't wait for the RC-F to come out so I can decide.

World Car Fans is reporting the next M3 will weigh in at about 3300 pounds with a 430 HP / 369 torque engine. That is impressive. I know the RC-F is also suppose to employ a carbon fiber hood/roof/trunk lid so hopefully its weigh will come down much from the IS-F's. Otherwise the M models may outperform F.

The M models already perform better than the F in nearly every aspect. I love my F, but having owned an e46 m3, an e92 m3, and driven an e60 M5 numerous times, I can confidently say that the F is not on the same level as an M-car performance wise. The M is much more raw and feels more like a sports car.

3300 is highly optimistic. A 1 series can barely keep it in the 3300# range. That might be the dry weight before gas, fluids, and a driver

Interesting. That has not been my experience not the experience of some of the car reviewers. The M cars are good, but barely ahead of the F IMO. I guess it is subjective.

Guess we will see with this new generation.

I think it is the difference between performance and feel. If we're talking performance, as in measurable objective numbers, the F hangs right there with the M in almost every category (0-60, 1/4th mile, skidpad, slalom, and track times around the 'Ring). If you're talking "feel" that is much more subjective. The M3 feels more wound up and confident, kind of like my S2000 felt. The Lexus feels a little more GT car-ish. The numbers are similar, but the feel is a bit different.

That said, I actually prefer the feel of the Lexus for a car that I use for my daily driving duties. It's a little bit dialed down compared to the M. Maybe I'm a fanboy, but there's almost no reason that I would get an M3 over the RCF if/when I'm shopping for a new car, even if the RCF is a couple ticks slower in performance numbers. If the RCF is like an ISF, only better, then that's what I want no matter what the M's numbers are like.

Well put! It's almost an unfair comparison when factoring in reliability. I would never own a BMW or any German car because of that, they just aren't built to last.
