Default Carmax Appraisal?

Anybody ever trade their F in at Carmax or have it appraised by them? Debating in the next few months to get a newer F and was just wondering how fair they are before I go there

I actually traded my 08 STi in to Carmax to get my current ISF. The appraisal is free and doesn't take long. It's definitely worth your time to go in and get it appraised, if anything just to get an idea of what trade in value is. They gave me $24k for my STi and then listed it for $29k. I will likely buy from Carmax again in the future.

I did so I could get a ballpark for a diminished value claim after a small fender bender. That was about two years ago but it was about 6K-7K less than trade in value so they are really low but its a business so don't expect miracles.

I see that they have quite a few of them listed for sale right now so that will drive the price down even more since they will likely tell you they can't move them.

I've been on and off of Carmax.com checking their ISF stock. I don't exactly know why I keep looking since I already bought one. I suppose I like to see what I could have gotten if I waited a little longer (better color, later year, fewer miles, etc). The point is, I actually see most of them move pretty frequently. You can expect them to offer you about $5k to $6k less than what they are selling them for. Like clifftrail said, they're a business.
