08 Touch screen death....again
#18
Well I should have knocked on wood after posting in this thread that mine hadn't had this issue yet, mine decided to kick the bucket this afternoon. Thank goodness for my warranty, will be going in this week to get it replaced.

It's not the elements, save extended heat or cold soaks, that play havoc with the NAV unit. IMHO, it's a design and manufacturing issue that causes them to fail.

I see a lot of ISF fail with their Navi and it is starting to worry me as well, but like VJ mentioned its happening to almost every 08 or 09....but what about other year models?....does anyone with 10~13 have same issue of Navi death?

Does anyone know how to control the heat with the steering wheel controls? When I press "AUTO" it makes it full blast. It's like a double-edged sword, either the heat will blast or I'll be freezing.....still waiting on my dealer to get the parts

I think you can lower the temps with the voice command. check the sticky on the 2IS section.

Your other thread is locked so I'll give you my input here.
I don't think you can get JM Lexus work on your touchscreen for free, even with your extended warranty. You purchased your car used and the hack was done already. The dealer noticed this (they even informed you about it) so any warranty (manufacturer's and extended) related to the headunit is voided. When we do the hack we all know about this, but we take the risk. JMCC may have worked on your sound system, but you're not claiming warranty on their job.
What options do you have now? IMO you can try to fix the screen with the instructions provided above, or you can remove the hack, take all connections back to how they were OEM, and try a different Lexus dealer. I did the later, I made sure that the harness looked untouched, then took my ISF to Lexus of North Miami, and got my touchscreen fixed. Once at home I did the hack again and enjoyed my ISF for a couple more years.

Thanks, I jus finished talking to them and ofcourse they will not fix it. The first time a few years ago when the cd player stopped workin took it lexus of north Miami also....they fixed it, even with the dvd hack. This was before had all the amps and vais tech stuff installed. I know if I take it back I will probably have to fight with them also. Im gonna take it to a electronics shop and see if hey can do the fix above.
Jm is sayin that whoever did he hack spliced the wires and whole wiring harness needs to be replaced for 14k
all I want is a used nav unit installed, screw the harness cause I know that is not the cause. Oh well screw jm,im talking my, isf, ls, and es to north Miami.
It amazes me that a stealership would rather lose long term money to save a few bucks....compared to the money if spent with them.
