I was contemplating the CTS-V vs ISF when I was starting to look at a new car. The biggest factor I didn't go with the CTS-V was the gas mileage. I do drive around a lot for my job and I don't think I could handle filling up the tank twice as fast. I average 17-20mpg on a tank in my ISF. I can't imagine how much worse it'd be in the CTS-V. I definitely get the urge to wind up the car whenever I can.

Nothing against the CTS-V. I love the car, it has plenty of potential for extra power. My co worker has a CTS-V coupe and every chance I get I'll take it out and have some fun with it. If you don't care about the gas mileage I'd say its a great bargain.

after more thought i dont think im going to make the leap out of value. i think i could get 35k for my car no question if i put it back to stock plus il have 20k worth of parts in my hand... i could buy a 2011 cts v for 45k with some shopping so im loosing 10k to give him my F plus parts and cash at the minimum. I see this and like the easy power with the baller interior but at the end of the day im buying a car that is devaluing much faster than the F for too much money. If I want one i should part out my F and buy one, not this horse trade kinda deal.

+1 I totally agree with this thinking. If you part out and sell your car you'll have a ton more options.

In the same boat as you dbarbs. Was looking at a gray cts-v 2010 with 31,000 miles.
They were going to give me 35k for the F on trade..but i passed. Going to wait till it gets colder out here it the northeast and then reevaluate my situation. I want more power and feel like i have hit the wall with the F. I don't have headers or nos like you but don't want to pour more money into the car. Need a change and want something faster. hopefully there will be more info on the upcoming rc-f in the next few months and i will wait it out or i will get a viper like vj..
or new stingray..

The more I think about the CTS-V the more I want one. But when thinking about things overall (power, price, mpg, reliability, comfort, tech, fun) the ISF seems to satisfy all of my wants just fine.

The hunt for "more power" seems to hit me no matter what car I have and it's tough to complain with what the ISF offers as a package.

there we go.
that is what I view as the viable ISF upgrade.
Although I'd prefer a 997.2 more than the 997.1
CTS-V is not worth it if you already have an IS-F, trust me.
A worthy upgrade is measured by the difference between both cars, where the Cadillac does not highly differ from the F.
Get a Porsche or GTR as an upgrade

if im reading this right...and he wants to give YOU money...DEW EET NOW!!! CTS-V's are holding their value very well. so...unless he has a ton of miles and you have nil...he is a damn fool.

my brother just bought...and sold...his CTS-V wagon in the last year. he didnt lose a dime. at a dealership.

this is a no brainer. and, frankly, its somewhat unbelievable.

Not sure how well CTS-Vs are holding value but just a Quick search returned 20 some 2011 yr CTS-Vs for sale under $45k...Not many 2011 Fs can be found under $45k.

Absolute genius. I agree completely.

Or 2014 GTR w/crazy launch control that achieves 0-60 in 2.0 (allegedly, but I believe it)

Your not reading right. He wants my car + mods + 6k, he has more milage. Not a no brainer, i have almost 20k in mods in my F, Motor, looks, suspension, three sets of high end rims and tires for daily, road coursing and strip.

I clearly agree with you but the cadi is much faster & more comfortable/better suspension to ride in... not as good looking and will for sure break more on the interior. the motor is a solid platform.
