Keeping old parts after warranty replacement performed?
Hello everyone
I have a 2012 isf which developed a minor paint bubble in each headlight. My warranty work was approved and replacement will be scheduled next week.
My question is, can I keep my old parts (in this case headlamps) after warranty replacement? I read somewhere that sometimes dealer want to keep the "broken" part for their internal diagnostics.
Please comment
thank you.

Here is how it works:
The parts dept keeps the old parts for about a month or so. Toyota corp will ask for the original parts back within that month, if the month passes the parts dept is free to toss the parts. If the parts dept is asked for parts back and they dont have it, they get in some trouble and are charged entire cost of new part. I would call and talk to parts manager on a day and time when they arent busy...during week maybe after lunch...
