Carbon Kevlar Project
Teaser...
Fresh out of the vacuum bag.
Lobux mentioned we didn't have a "true" one of these made for the ISF.
1st pic- fresh out and trimmed
2nd pic- first cut
3rd pic- first wet sand and taper adjustment
edit: please ignore my vascular feet, and lasagna... the old lady wasn't too impressed with my backdrop choice either

One of five strakes for a rear underdiffuser.
Very similiar to the Tom's, but with larger strakes that will extend to the leading edge of the rear bumper and actually create an area of low pressure, drawing air out from under the car.

Almost completed the rough finish on all the strakes last night and general placement. Don't worry about the screws, it was for a test fit. I'm excited to mount it to my F, just need to decide if it will go over the stock rear under diffuser, or if it will replace it.

Realistically the carbon-kevlar offers very little structural integrity to this project. It is now vac' bagged around high density plastic for aesthetics.
The entire strake was well saturated and then vaccuum bagged, so waterproofing is a non issue even prior to being clear coated.

Base is also a high density abs type plastic. ABS has better impact resistance (especially in cold climates) than PVC, but is also more prone to deformation due to heat. So i will definitely require heat shielding near the exhaust.
I'm planning on spraying the base in a ceramic high temp engine enamel (probably in an obnoxiously bright color, sikky green perhaps??)
If you take a look at the Toms rear under diffuser it is also constructed of a textured high grade plastic.
So far i'm on my third prototype (first was fibreglass, second was foamboard, third is ABS).
