Default Race Night tonight! May 23rd/14

Hey all,

I just wanted to say that I will be taking my car to the 1/4 mile track tonight in Medicine Hat, Alberta. This will be the first time ever on a 1/4 mile track for me. Weather is currently about 82 degrees Fahrenheit, expected mid 70's at race time. Winds are about 20mph, and unsure as to which direction until I get to the track. - Converted to American since most on here are... I am one of the few Canadians with an ISF.

Running regular tires with 91 octane, that's the highest around here. Will try to be around 1/4 tank of gas. Took the spare tire out of the trunk and now I'm all set to go!

Question:

Should I let some air out of my rear tires for grip? If yes, what pressure should I be at? (remember stock tires 2011)

What time should I be happy with? 14, 13.5, 13, 12.5????

Should be a fun night!!!!

Yes, ISS Forged DES Exhaust and Takeda Intake.

And yes, my wife will be recording from the grand stands.

I was told by the Vice Pres of the track that it will probably be a slow night and I should get in somewhere between 10-15 runs if I wanted...

When I ran the quarter, M + Sport mode, 100% stock, no weight reduction, full tank of gas, 13.26 - 13.5, which is as fast as an IS350. Didn't matter if I ran 36psi or 29psi on stock sized PSS tires.

Sure, you could take out the spare, run it on 1/4 full tank, but that is not a true indication of what the car can do from the manufacturer, which is slow as heck for an advertised 416hp.

if an ISF can do it at that rate, then if you were the driver it would have a slower time. Your reaction time may not be what it could be. People usually punch it on the third yellow and dont wait for the green

R/T is for competition racing against another car, the timer doesn't start counting until you pass the timing light.

One can sit at the greenlight for 20 seconds and a 100% stock ISF will still do no better than 13's.

I'm not sure why some of you are getting such high numbers. The first time I went to the track I did 12.7 even though I messed one of my shifts.

You should run high 12's for stock, there is few variances to this but anything under 13 is completely doable. All nannies off, sport mode, manual upshifts on slight limiter hit, have fun and post your slips in Drag forum.

No reason the F should ever run a 13 second quarter unless...

1. Track is uphill
2. Driver is 300+lbs
3. Driver isn't familiar with the car
4. The car has something wrong with it and isn't making the power
5. High altitude
5. Any combination of the above

This is assuming the car is at full weight.

^^^ truth, I'm 300+lbs and my first time on a track I run 12.68 as my best run with borla and Injen which I just swapped for joeZ pipe and stock box/filter due to heatsoak with Injen. Planning to do muffler delete for my next track day plus some more weight reduction, and finally I can use my NT05's DR for the first time, hoping for 12.5's or less

13.55, 13.87, 13.96, 14.03 for my 4 runs tonight... in that order...

I could not stop the spinning. Any and all tips would be helpful. I would spin in 1st and 2nd and even got swirly on the 4th run. I was loading it to about 1000rpm for launch. Should I not do that at all? A guy at the track said after I got eliminated that I should of not loaded at all and come off the line at half throttle until im sure it would stick...

Help please!

I think loading it up might have hurt you. I'm no pro at launching the car myself but I spin pretty hard on 305 PSS tires with a burnout and I've never loaded it up. I can only imagine how hard it would break traction if I did. Cayman or toothdoc would be some of the best guys to help you on this subject.
