you should probably take it in for service.
usually removing anything from the a/c system involves purging/refilling refrigerant and that stuff takes special equipment.

So says the man who has never actually done the job...I'm sorry, but it's a real PITA and the likelihood of damaging something (because so many bits get moved in the process) is pretty high. Sure dealer techs do this, but what do they charge you to do it? Few people would pay to have a dash removed unless it was a warranty issue. It took two full days of effort to change out the dash in my Supra, but I had one of only 9 remaining left hand drive dashes in the world, so I made absolutely certain I didn't botch the job.
