Whirling noise when braking hard from very high speeds
Hey guys I have noticed the last 3 times I hit the brakes really hard above 100 mph ( even 120 mph) I hear a whirling noise coming from either the front brakes or tires. Kind of sounds like when you have really old summer tires on the car and you make a stop on the street . I have heard this on the track the last 2 track days I had. I know my front tires (Michelin PSS) are about 40% worn but are still in pretty good shape. My rotors are the same that carried me through 6 track days in 10 months and was recently told by the dealership that my front pads need to be replaced sooner than later ( they were installed 10 months ago before all the track work ) and I am assuming the rotors are beat up pretty goo . I will be getting new tires in the next few months and will most likely be replacing pads and rotors at the next scheduled service. The car has 34k on it. Just wanted to know if anyone has heard this before? Is this normal with Brembos or aggressive brakes?
Any ideas on what makes that noise??

I'm on cryo'd rotors with 45k miles of use and back to Bobcat pads. They had some life left in them by my micrometer and the Bobcats were still viable, so I'll run them until the calipers start making bad noises (again) or the rotors wear to the limit.
I first experienced the holey disc noise on a TZ250 with drilled rotors way back in 1984.

Yep, I hear it all the time when braking hard (or even semi-hard) at high speeds. On my way home from work there is a freeway entrance that goes for about 1/2 mile and is blocked by walls on both sides and is always empty - the perfect place to run fast without risk of other cars getting in the way or getting caught! Anyways, nearly every day I get her up to about 140 on that stretch before having to brake hard for the upcoming ~80 degree turn and I always hear the loud whirring noise that you described. It's the perfect way to blow off steam and get the adrenaline pumping after a long day at work!

In the past I noticed that there seemed to be a ruffness when I would apply the brakes until I open up the holes in the rotors manually.
