Maybe a week or so ago my F's sunroof at high speeds (65-80) has started rattling. Sounds like there is something loose, and it is clanking on another part. Anyone else experience this? I will be taking it to a dealership or auto shop to have it repaired, or fixing it myself if it is something minor. And its not just a one off rattle, it is constant when at those speeds. Had a two hour drive yesterday and it was driving me crazy.

When mine is open i get a rattle occasionally

I always drive with it propped, not fully opened, and over time it has developed a rattle when I'm going over rough roads. I think whatever is causing it, just needs to be tightened. Unfortunately, I don't know what part needs the tightening. sorry, I'm no help

Just got mine fixed and even posted on it. The rubber seal aorund the frame of the glass will collapse and shrivel with heat and time . This creates less tension in the frame and a rattle. I had my seal replaced for $240 approx. The car is silent now. The suspension on the car is too ruff not to address it. The rattle is like 3" away from your head

And the noise you experienced was when the sunroof was closed? Was it also at high speeds?

I bought a 2008 IS F in the last 6 months. It was in great mechanical condition but was parked out in the sun every day. All of the seals are baked. My sunroof rattles when closed. It happens when I go over any kind of bump or rough road.


I got a quote yesterday from the LD:
Seal only = $75
Seal, Installation, Sunroof adjustment = ~$330


Is there a previous thread on replacing the seal and adjusting the sunroof?

I have not had this problem yet.... But one thing that drives me nuts about my sunroof in my 08 F: when it's opened toward the last 3 clicks, I get a huge wind vibration above 25mph. I can't think of the word to better describe it, it's like blowing wind over the top of a coke bottle. Makes me sick, +1 for the back propped open.... Just enough draw to pull the smoke out of the car. Lol.

Is this just mine? My 2011 doesn't do it, just the 08.

With sunroof slid open and all windows closed, the noise is loud. If I open rear winds slightly, it improves.

mine has the rattle only when proped. Not slid open. need to have it addressed.

Dropped the vehicle off at Toyota to have it fixed. They quoted me $2,800. I have an Aftermarket Warranty and their sending one of their guys down to verify it.

its an easy fix. It will just cost a few hundred. Better than listening that rattle. I use my sunroof almost every day. Seems fine since they fixed it
