How Restrictive is the stock air filter??
Curious, as I realize the stock intake is the best engineered set-up for the F with it's dual stage intake system.
I was curious as to what the CFM rating is on the stock air filter ( or any paper filter for that matter) compared to say a K&N or the aFe Magnumflow?
Thx

Also have wondered the same, it seems restrictive by just looking at it considering the small front scoop with multiple bends and the side flap that opens up into the corner of the headlight. Given it is a vacuum... But apparently from other reads you experience a power loss when going to a short ram and cone filter. Extra intake noise but overall power loss. But what ive really wondered, what is with the "teabag filter" will some sort of filling that sits inside the lower half of the intake, and what purpose does it serve?

The teabag filter is a carbon filter to remove hydrocarbons when the engine is sitting. The most difficult emissions test to pass is the SHED test. The tester seals the car in what amounts to a shed and measures the hydrocarbons the car emits over a three day period. Exhaust emissions are a cakewalk compared to this test. The teabag is critical to ensuring any hydrocarbons in the intake are absorbed instead of released to atmosphere.
