Oh you should verify if they did an alignment on your car. If not you may find your tires to be done prematurely.

Starter replacement sucks cuz the amount of work needed to be done. It's also a good chance to get headers installed while you're at it.

Another thread revival, just wanted to see if anyone else has had the same problem a year later. I was just hit with the 1 click start 2 days ago. Drove my car to the train station in the morning with no issues, 8 hours later I tried to start my car and only got 1 click. I replaced my battery about a month before so I know for sure it wasn't my battery but to be safe, also tried jumping it to no avail. Car is a 2008 with almost 160k miles.

happened to my 2008 with 80k miles, happened 1/10/2018.

another guys posted about this to recently.

I dont know if the 2008 is on some kind of 10 year time bomb that the starters go out, but if so in 2019 the 2009 ISF will be next! lol

Jeez when it rains it pours. Just happen to me today as well. 08 ISF started fine this morning, parked it work, went to fire it up for lunch nothing. I assumed it was a dead battery, took the battery to advanced and they said it was bad. $130 dollars later I drop the new battery in same problem. 2 clicks and nada, sigh..... So what's everything recommend for this change?

Denso starter okay? Or should I go OEM?
2 new Denso upstream A/F sensors?
Figs LCA #2 bushing as RCB suggested in his previous post?
Headers??...my god this is going to get expensive really quick!

Edit:

What do you think about this starter??

Cheaper than the Denso and OEM

Haha nice, yea I went with amazon after finding out the one from Rockauto that people earlier mentioned within the thread suggested is also Remanufactured. I figured it'll be easier to deal with amazon if I needed to return it.

Have always heard from smart people that weak batteries are hard on starters. I guess the cranking amps get weak and the starter doesn't like that.

For those of you with old batteries, may be smart to step up to a new one. If you store the car, disconnect the battery or even put a battery minder on it.

Get prepared any time after three years and two if you live in a hot climate.

Your already paying for one header to be installed when you do the starter so it really is the perfect time to do it if you can afford the parts.
And don't mess around, just but 2 new Denso upstream A/F sensors. Your old ones most likely won't come out and if they do the treads will be in poor shape.
I always install the Figs LCA #2 bushing for my customers when doing headers as well.
Just out of curiosity why do you install the Figs LCA #2 bushing when doing the headers?

I assume since we might have to remove the subframe in order to get to the headers, you might as well do those bushings as well to get rid of the inner tire wear problem.

On the side note, Can anyone recommend a shop to do the starter replacement? I'm located in SoCal btw. Dealership is asking for $2900 labor only to do it.

Sounds scary how many of you recently just had it failed.
My replacement has so far been fine and now I'm scared!

After the plastic protector crumbled the shop did not replace it with anything.
I'm about 80k miles since the replacement.

I did replace it with oem just so I did not have to pay the high labour again.

I also changed to ppe Coated headers back in the summer.

I personally wouldn't risk it says oem standard duralast is like ac delco would you really want those parts on your japanese made lexus? I surely wouldn't also show 1.2kw rated our cars use 2kw motors just looking for problems down the road. That starter is most likely from china or korea or taiwan... just saying.
