If you gut the OEM cats it will pass any visual inspections since the internals is the only part that gets modified
werd, that will indeed pass you if you go that route.
but when some folks on decide to go with an aftermarket catback (i.e. borla) then that may cause an issue when smogging since the kit gets rid of the secondary cats. just saying.
