Default Auxiliary Gauges - What to monitor??

Hey Guys,

Just wondering what extra gauges you have in your F's?

Thinking I would want EGT, oil temp, and oil pressure?

Anyone think of different ones they would want over these 3??

Not sure if AFR would be worth having? Not as if I need to watch it given the lack of tuning etc.

Any thoughts, suggestions would be great.

Cheers.

In the states we have oil temp in the cluster. Where would you mount additional gauges?

Found someone over here who had a custom gauge holder made to replace the central air vents.

Let's face it, not as if I have sweltering heat issues here in Blightey! Lol.

The OEM gauges aren't that accurate though from what I've been told?

Just thinking it would be nice to have some extra info when I am pushing hard on track next year.

Got 3 Defi gauges coming my way from down under!

Gone for AFR, oil temp, and oil pressure.

Absolutely mate.

Photos to follow once they're all plumbed in and up and running.

I've always liked ones that are built into the cluster bezel:

Google "sti steering column dual gauge pod" and you will see what I mean.

Agreed. That is a nice look.

Shame no one offers anything like that for the F.

This holder should look pretty good once I've finished with it.

Just need to work out the wire routing from the vents!

Bet that'll be fun! Lol.

While it's a nice thought to add gauges, if you are really driving the car, the last thing you are looking at is gauges. I'm a big fan of data logging so you can actually review what was happening while you were driving the snot out of the car. Remember, your ability to drive is limited by your attention, and there are only three really important things when driving fast - course, heading, and traction. Everything else is unimportant to going fast. Focusing attention on gauges means you are not spending attention on the three critical elements.

+1, I don't see the point of extra gages on a stock car either, you won't have the time to check them when u push it anyway.

Appreciate what you're saying guys.

Unless you're pushing every lap, I always thought you would do warm up and cool down laps? If so, it's not so tough to glance at the gauges to see if everything is as it should be? Same applies for dyno runs, and normal driving.

They are angled towards the driver, so it won't take much to look at them without endangering myself, or anyone else.

I'm not disputing what you're saying, and rest assured I'll be concentrating fully on the job at hand when I'm pushing the car on track or otherwise.

Thanks for the feedback though guys.
