Last minute bull - what is a pad hardware set?
On the final steps of a long distance very hard IS F deal.
The brakes have 1mm before they need changed, so asked them to change the pads. Compromise reached was they do the labor, I bring the pads. There was a miscommunication (I didn't catch it in his email) that I was paying them for pads rather than bringing ones for them to use.
But now out of the ****ing blue I get:
Pad set $379.79
Pad hardware set $ 53.06
They must have the pad hardware set.
Really/ what the f*** part numebr is a hardware set? Does this actually exist? Suggested strategy for me? The F is at a decent price compared to the overall market, so maybe I should swallow it and let them build the labor cost into the parts? Suggestions? Maybe pull a last-minute "what exactly is the part number" at the register when the rest of the deal is done? (They might head me off in advance though>.. )

That could be the shim kit and some new grease.. they would go for about that. I'd want all the part numbers if I was paying someone to do it.
If I were you, I'd have them adjust the price to leave it as is and would then just do the brakes yourself. Pads on the isf are a 10 minute job.

- I'd have to drive it 2000 miles to get it home! On 1mm! Kind of dodgy.
- I live at an apartment, no car work allowed in the lots anywhere, and don't own any tools except $15 box o' random household stuff

Ah okay. My suggestion then would be to renegotiate the price of the vehicle.
Your pad prices seem in line for front oem Brembo's at the dealer. Hope that puts you at ease a bit.

It does!! because I was having a really bad attitude and about to reply to them combatively though I think they might actually be one of the "nice ones"! -- oh man there are so many dealers with F's I didn't even think about calling after seeing the internet feedback they have on file! I really wonder what ultimately happens to those cars after they sit on the lot 6 months.

Wanted to share the part #s in case anyone lands here from google searches in the future
Trying to be a responsible internet citizen
04465-0W120 PAD SET LEXUS 379.79
04945-0W010 PAD SHIM KIT 24.44
04947-0W010 HARDWARE CLIPS AND FRONT BRAKE PAD AND INSTALLATION KITS 28.57
I still ended up paying... stopped feeling bad about it when i remembered what I pay for my front pad job on my TL type-S & remembered I'm getting this car 3k less than anything else clean with the same specs I could find.
