Default Dealership Unable to Program Key Fob

Hey guys, I took my car in this morning to the Lexus dealership to get a spare key programmed. This key was bought from Sewell a few months ago before their online store closed so its brand new. The dealer was unable to program the key after trying for 40 minutes. The FCC and IC match on the back of the key so I'm not sure why they wouldn't be able to program it. Has anyone had any experience with this before and/or can anyone recommend a dealership in SoCal who can do it?

They're are just b.s.ing you! I had the exact same situation happen to me. Bought a brand-new fob from Sewell and the local dealership told me the fob won't work after 30min of trying. A friend working at Toyota programmed it and said it work on the first attempt.

Exactly the same issue! Had my credit card key programmed at Toyota because the Lexus dealer said they couldn't get it to work.

Subiepunk I just had my credit card Key Fob programmed at the Lexus dealer in Sacramento yesterday with no issues. I got the key fob from my boy who purchased it from Bell Lexus in AZ. Not sure if you are close to sac but if you want to come up here I can put you in touch with the service and parts guys who have been really helpful.

Is it a credit card fob or just a regular lexus key fob? I bought a new credit card key fob and the dealer couldn't program it. Come to find out, there's a different part # for the 08-09 models I believe. Sewell confirmed this when I asked them about it.

Check to make sure the battery is good, sometimes even new key fobs come with dead battery.

it was just the regular key fob. I checked the part number on my receipt from sewell 8990453060 and it appears that I did get the correct one for my 08. I did ask the service dept if they had checked the battery and they said yes but who knows. I may just try a toyota dealership next.
