I don't know about cheating yourself but I do agree with the graduating up to that tyre though.

For me what I found it made the cars limits easier to explore without having that fear of losing the back end.

Also found it gave me more front end so turn in was a lot sharper and I could pick up the accelerator a lot easier without any hesitation because of that extra grip.

Also found when the back end did go it basically told you when it was going to go so easier to control and basically with the added grip time is found every where in a lap braking corner entry and exit speeds are up.

Just alot more fun and it opens up a new realm of performance in the car in my experience.
