Default Sorry for beating a dead horse...but its about the intake mod...

I just noticed the lexus CCS-R removed the second stage flap (including the vacuum solenoid)...im still confused about this mod,i tried it once and the car felt much lighter (below 3600 rpm) but after asking a couple guys from this board who tried it and if they are STILL on this mod, pretty much everyone i asked replied they installed it back,i think someone even said his car felt slower with the mod......
Well basically this mod is similar to an open pod filter which will require the entire intake box removed,so past 3600rpm they should all be the same right?

I think the intake flap mod requires resetting the ecu for this mod to work perfectly

Exclamation

The CCS-R stays mostly above 3,600 rpm's when racing...

The secondary flap opening / closing would be pointless on that application..

" When your car is at less than 3500, the intake flapper is closed. So all the air entering the intake is coming from the front snorkel, and for the most part it is cooler air since its is coming from the front of the car. When the intake flapper opens, you are actually drawing air from the engine bay area. Now if you are over 3500rpm, in most cases you are traveling at a speed, so cold air gets channeled to the vicinity of the intake flapper. But when you are below 3500rpm, sitting in traffic, or stagging at a light at the drag strip... if your intake flapper is open, you will simply be drawing in hot air from the engine bay (because you are not getting any airflow from the side duct). Bottom line, there are many situations where you would loose power with this mod." -Rafi Raban

^^ Not sure if that entire post is a quote from someone..??

But is wrong... The air is pulled in from the passenger side fender area...

They say a picture is worth a thousand words..!!

Side cover removed... Intake Flap open

Passenger side fender liner with slits to pull air up and in..

** Note the drivers side fender liner does not have any slits to pull in air..
Same should apply to the RC F.. And upcoming GS F..

There is more of a robust sound on take offs under 3,600 rpm..

It's been reported that the car actually feels sluggish on initial take offs.

Maybe a better mod during cold weather temperatures...

If you have a decent full exhaust this mod is irrelevant in the sound department
