The M156 in the C63 was downtuned, I believe there was a throttle opening limiter and a simple remap can net you a pretty sizeable gain. I looked into the C63 and the E9X M3 as alternatives for the ISF and a lot of C63 owners went for a simple remap from the likes of Eurocharged.

^^^^^^That makes sense, didn't know they de-tuned the M156 in the C63.

I wonder if Lexus engineers de-tuned the 2UR-GSE? Or did they yank everything they thought they could out of the motor with complying with strict emission regulations??

IMG, they did a bit just to get some reliability of out of the motor.

The 2UR-GSE was tuned by Yamaha, not Toyota/Lexus.

I knew Yamaha developed the heads for the motor just didn't know how much tuning they had control of?? Did Lexus just turn over development of the motor more or less to Yamaha and then Lexus set some parameters for them to stick too?

Something along those lines...I know Lexus had Yamaha detune the engine to further inhibit reliability and tune the sound. Which obviously they nailed greatly.

C63 is detuned as in its the same motor from the 507 edition. MB just limits the throttle to 80%. OE like everyone else just goes in and fixes the glitch haha. So they don't really compare. That's an intentional detune to sell a higher model with the same engine.

Your average NA tune completely stock will net minimal gains. The key is to tune for mods. But in the case of the ISF the stock ECU adapts pretty well so the gains will likely still be minimal.

"Detuned" has a double meaning these days. One manufactures detune is not the same across the board for all other manufactures. And 'detuned' doesn't necessarily mean all parts are 100% there and adjustments were made through software by the manufacture to drop power. Some manufactures, as a selling point, will say so-and-so car has the same engine as their sports car exotic counterpart, but in truth, all thats the same is the block. Detuned can also mean weaker rods, pistons, valve train, smaller injectors, smaller turbo, etc..

I hope this will eventually lead to end user programability.

Took my ISF up to Chicago for an event from Chattanooga TN earlier last year, I was terrified by the condition of the roads and the condition of almost every car's front and rear bumpers. I feel lucky that I got through that weekend without a scratch lol.
