oh well, any suggestions on getting the dealer to agree? Does the photo show enough for me to have a solid case?

I do have an extended warranty, but it’s quite a job and may get turned down if it’s uneconomical to repair?

Extended warranty, if applicable, will cover failed emissions parts...

As an FYI, I just got $1000 for the OEM cats on the manifolds. The secondary cats were $100 each. Pricing probably depends on locality, but don't throw those suckers out or give them away free!

where can we sell them for that price or close to that price? I bought a new manifold before I realized it can be welded. Time to recuperate some of the that cost.

I got 850 for mine. Values must have gone up. Get on FB market place and ask your local cat recyclers. Get a few quotes. The guy I sold them too told me they are the most valuable Toyota cats he had ever seen, based on their content.

I was offered $30 and had to provide a VIN for the vehicle it came from and separate the cats from the manifold before bringing it in....F that.
Someone local to me got $700 from a recycler from F last week. I'm gonna see if he can hook me up with the buyer.

You can also sell them on ebay as scrap. That will give you a good idea of what people will pay for them. I also got three local quotes. The guy I work with normally was the highest. The lowest was $400, mid range was $950

I have the passenger side manifold for the isf. I bought a brand new one when that went bad and didn’t realized it can be welded back.

Bingo. I have the regular tick on cold start and the exhaust smell. Smog sniffer in HVAC system always switches to recirculating on cold start. Every time. Sounds just like the Hemi video Lobuxracer linked in post #243.

I looked into the Magnaflow replacement parts 553881 (right/passenger's side) and 553868 (left/driver's side), but they are only listed on the website as being CARB-compliant for MY 2008 to 2010. I called Magnaflow to get an explanation, and was told very plainly that Magnaflow does not make any CARB-compliant parts for MY 2011. My best guess is that Magnaflow did not renew the CARB EO for later MY's. (Interestingly, Magnaflow does make non-CARB parts 51881 and 51868 for MY's 2010 to 2014.) Magnaflow representative referred me to CARB's website, which lists Walker Manufacturing Company as the only certified supplier for MY2011. Walker website lists part numbers, but pictures are rather unhelpful. Has anyone here in CA tried the Walker parts?

Next step is to take it to a Lexus dealer and see if they will help with a repair/replacement even though the car is out of emissions warranty.

I am trying to be responsible and fix the car properly, but this is getting a little weird. Of course the car passed smog this February, because CA no longer tests actual tailpipe emissions. Actual emissions are irrelevant under current regulations.

Edit: One more detail, Magnaflow's 553868 and 553881 are listed as "unavailable" and "out of stock" on Magnaflow's and Planet Magnaflow's websites, respectively. They may not be manufacturing these parts anymore.

@ChpEng At these prices you are better off with a set of headers..

But if thats not your direction of choice, if your passenger is cracked like mine was, a quick tig weld job will fix that right up.

Or you can phone Tommy @ MusicBox to see if he has any OEM repaired ones ready for a swap job.. The labor, time & effort is what makes this job a piggy bank killer.

To properly repair the one on your car is more time consuming and way more down time. Your OEM CATs are fine, just hairline crack at manifold pipe flange, which will never throw a CEL or cause a FAILED SMOG.

SMOG recently had some CA LAW Changes.. (some 2012) 2013+ still don't need SMOG. I think its now full 8 years from original sale date if original owner.
Also, the OBDII plug in smog tests are now for 2000 MY and newer cars. 1999 and older will still need the sniffer tests.. (and maybe rollers)

Few years back both my LH & RH manifolds were replaced under my extended warranty..

If either were to ever fail again and I don't go the repair route, I would likely consider a set of PPE headers..

I still have my RC F LSD Diff swap sitting here on the back burner.
