Hoping to start doing some trackdays soon as well.

The new seats and gauges will be useful when that time comes.

It's even more unique for the other UK F owners. I at least get help and advice from you guys, they all rely on me to develop the tuning scene over here!

Not that I mind taking that challenge though!

Think it should look pretty special once the seats and gauges are all fitted and working.

I'm going to do a DIY of my seat install. Should be helpful for future F owners that choose to change their seats.

Luckily they sell resistor kits these days that look a little neater than a bunch of resistors wired together. Nothing wrong with that approach, but not something I'd do through choice!

In fairness, that guide was written a while ago.

Hoping mine will be more helpful for F owners, but there are some good pointers in there for sure.

Waiting for my seats to arrive with the courier as I type. Hopefully not long!

So I made a start on my passenger seat swap today.

No issue getting the OEM seat out, but trying to work out what I need to transfer to the new ones!

There were 3 wires to disconnect.



The female part of the seatbelt is bolted to a welded thread on the seat itself. Will need to buy a bolt somewhere to make that work on my new frames.

Thing is the wiring from that seatbelt grow under the seat! To get it off with the plug I need for the loom, you have two other bits to tackle.



This one that goes into the foam on the seat base, and going the other way is this one.

Would love some input from you guys! Patrick, can you help me mate?! Struggling to see how I get that Denso wire out of the seat?! Do I cut the foam?!

Don't want to pull on it in case it breaks!



Really would appreciate some advice guys.

The thing you are singling out in the pictures is the occupant sensor. It's used to enable or disable the passenger side airbag. Are you planning to transfer this functionality to the new seat?

Hi, yes, would like to transfer it if I can to my new seats.

Is this the gel pack someone mentioned before? Do I cut the foam to get to it, or can I release it another way??

Any ideas on the other plug I pointed at in the photos??

I can't confirm it for sure, but I guess you've got to remove the leather cover. It should be like a mat, once the leather is off it should be seen an can be removed. But I guess there's clue, so it won't be a fun job to do. Maybe you can get a new one from Lexus for a reasonable price. Then you won't have to tear the seat apart

Ugggh. The OCD in me wants to immediately pull off my seats so I can vacuum all those hard to reach places! Good luck with the swap..

For the most part all you should need to comp for is the airbags, eliminated with generally an ohm harness, and the OWS. Thing is, from my Volvo days those had to be calibrated. I don't believe a straight transfer is going to work since the new seat will likely add pressure all time. Guess that wouldn't be a bad thing it would just always default to on.

I assume the factory belts are being retained which accounts for the receptacle harness.

Um, our highways are 70mph limit, we all do 80-85mph, plus I have access to the German Autobahn and the Nurburgring on my doorstop.

You shouldnt need to cut that foam at all. What I did was take the clip off that rear seat section and flip up the back section and then worked the occupant sensor out. it is held in by one clip though.its just a push in type so it comes out pretty easy.

This is definitely a two person job though, one needs to pull up the seat and the other needs to pull the gel bag out. Ill pull my seat out of storage and get you pictures of it all

That 2 wire ribbon cable I did not have on my seat if I recall.
