Spotting the LSD DIFF-erences for ISF

Thanks everyone for the help!
Ill ask about pulling the axles, that might be an easier way to check without pulling the cover off..
No stickers so cant check the serials unfortunately.
I maaaaay offer some scratch to open and inspect, but with such a low chance of success, it could just be wasting some money..
Thanks for those pics, so annoying it doesnt have the stickers anymore.
Appreciate those part numbers, will search around now see what they are new. If its not too much more then easier to go new.
And yes, 100% agree with the maintenance of a torsen, much easier to live with as the car will be VERY rarely tracked etc, just more for some sideways giggles.

Why not just buy it. If the guy is advertising it that it is, then have him either verify and prove it, or tell him you’ll buy if you get it home and it’s indeed not what he advertised, you want the right to return it for a full refund. Any legitimate business owner shouldnt have an issue with that. If he says no go on either him verifying it or allowing you to return it, probably a shady place to business anyway and then just go after market....
just saw this post is year and half old, never mind... most likely completely irrelevant anymore.

Reviving an old thread.
The 2014+ LS460 RWD Fsport also have the same LSD in them, but it looks like the tags read different.
Can anyone confirm that this is also a Torsen unit, that fits ISFs?

In the old days another way to tell was to turn one axle shaft. If the other axle spins in opposite direction its an open diff. If they spin in the same direction, its a LSD.

This is still true, but does not work with a Torsen (or any other gear driven torque bias ratio spool like Quaife) because a Torsen acts like an open diff when one wheel has zero traction.

I got a few more pictures of the unit, and confirmed that the donor in fact is an f sport (ran the VIN via Lexus)
Attached pic shows a peak inside the housing - open diffs have a wider view of the other end, and a bar inside, going front to back.
I had no way of being there to check before committing, but the guy at the yard were super helpful with pics and verifying LSD function promptly.
You guys are mostly right - on my car's open diff, with the car in the air, when you turn one wheel, the other does not turn the opposite way.
It mostly stays still, but jerks forward in the same direction as the spinning side.
If a friend holds one wheel, and you start turning another, open diffs will simply free spin, or turn opposite way,
but on a torsen, your friend will feel it tugging the same way, and you will feel him resisting.
Fairly difficult to do without the axles installed, without potentially damaging something.

Yeah I saw that. There are several options in that price range but I think most of us are looking for a decent deal on one... Something at least under $1k. Seems tough but I'm sure it happens sometimes. If I could find one at that price point I'd be an instant buyer.

If you look often and periodically make offers on car-part.com, you'll find $1k no problem.
