If you look often and periodically make offers on car-part.com, you'll find $1k no problem.
Wow, yeah that's an awesome deal. Congrats. I'll definitely keep looking til I find a good deal. An OEM one is not worth $1500+ to me.

Pic of LS460 LSD on the left // 09 ISF open diff on right.

just completed the swap. Sport mode, nannies on: i punched it from a stop, turning right, and the tail kicked out right away, no one tire fire and no sudden jerks from elsd, then car started beeping at me and smoothly straightened out. I'm in love all over again!

So conclusively these will all fit the ISF:
IS-F open diff: 48J...
IS-F lsd: 58J...
LS460 open diff: 32J...
LS460 FSPT LSD: 36J...
- The actual part# for the LS460 LSD is 41110-53292 same as 12+ISF

With the visual differences being slightly obvious, since you have both of those carriers there do you think the LS460 could run the F carrier with the additional cooling capabilities and beefier mounting points? Do things look like they line up? Does anyone have knowledge on this ?

Does it look like bushings are the same. Id like to run the Figs set up.

I dream of having the OS Giken back there but a good deal could change things.

To clarify, the diff on the right, with the fins on the top side, is the open diff from an 09 ISF.
The LSD unit lacks the fins on top, but the housing itself is bigger, guessing this is necessary to accommodate the added Torsen gears.
As mentioned, the LSD I got from the 2014 LS460 Fspt is the same part as the 2013-2014 IS-F - so yes, they are interchangeable (ISF to LS and LS to ISF) and as far as I can tell, the bushings should be same as well.
Check with FIGS if you want to be sure.

The total cost of this swap - part + shipping, fluids, help from a friend etc etc, was about $750.
This was a rare steal ($550 shipped) that I found after about 6 months of active searching and sending offers to multiple junk yards.
However, even if you find one for $1k (still pretty good deal) and have someone swap it, it shouldn't cost more than $1500 total.
The installation of OSG diff would be much more involved than simply swapping pumpkins - feel free to share any info you may have.

Been running the 2014 LS460 F sport LSD diff for 3 years now. Figs bushings fit it no problem.

a good deal will not justify the excitement you will feel if you will get your dream. Os giken is night and day difference from torsen.

Agreed. From someone who owns both ATM.

Adding one more to the list with a caveat..

2015 to 2019 RC F Torsen LSD : 2GJ

Requires a bushing replacement or upgrade since the TWO hole bolt pattern is vertical vs IS F horizontal set up.

Option 1, try to rotate the existing IS F bushing by carefully removing, rotating 90 degrees and reinstalling for vertical holes.

Option 2, buy some OEM RC F bushings as they seem to be upgraded maybe, then on install push in for the vertical layout.

Option 3, buy the Super Pro poly bushings / Figs kit available for all IS / GS / RC - install vertical.

Option 4, remove RC F diff cover and swap with IS F thats on the car. (the least expensive route, but hate cracking open the diffs for that) Do not have to touch the bushings.

Learned a lot in this thread: RC F Differential into an IS F?

Can't believe I created this thread over 10 years ago
First Look: IS F LSD Swaps w/pics (been happening in Japan)

Finally after all this time, I acquired a Torsen LSD from a 2015 RC F donor car with 63k miles..

Going to work out the install plan in the weeks to come.. not in a rush, but eager to finally get it done!!

Enjoy the pics.. Joe Z

Special Thanks to @lobuxracer & @Jeff Lange for answering all my questions soo far!!

Nice pick up Joe, if you go option 3 on bushings you may encounter a little bit of gear whine around 55-60 mph,
not bad but noticeable with no radio on. Also the gear lube you choose can make a difference on how much
the Torsen engages, I am currently using Liquid Molly and I get a little bit of shuddering at very low speeds and
turning (parking). I used Amsoil sever gear before and had no shuddering, I only switched to see if I could get the
gear whine to go away but was not successful, so I will probably switch back to Amsoil.

I would get all four super pro bushings (two in diff arms, two on subframe) and go with Amsoil’s diff fluid. Might as well since you have it off the car and can take your time doing it and have no down time. Will be 110% worth it!

Thanks.. Been a long time waiting..!!

Are you saying the poly bushings could be the cause of your whine ?

Did you go with OE Replacement Kit or the High HP Kit?

Also did you add the supplemental inserts ?

Last but not least have you tried Mobil 1 Synthetic 75w90 Gear Oil ..!!??

Yes I believe the upgraded poly bushings are causing the transfer of gear noise to the cabin, not
everyone has experienced this but a few of us have. I also drive with out the radio, and like to
semi-close the valves on the Varex exhaust. With radio on and exhaust fully open I would not
notice the noise.

I went with the high HP kit which includes the pinion and rear mount with inserts its a great
up-grade and I would do it again even with the noise. The oe bushings are very soft and I was
experiencing wheel hop, the poly bushings have eliminated that.

I have not tried the Mobile 1 synthetic, but I'm sure it would work fine. It seams that some
brands use more or less friction modifier in their formulation which may account for differences
in the torque biasing applied by the Torsen.

^^ Speaking of formulation, I might give the factory fill Toyota gear oil a try..
After I run something cheaper for 1,000 miles etc, to examine this units operation..

Last Torsen LSD unit I had was on my 2001 IS300 (back then dealerships used an additive during service)

Now they should be using the below or GL-5 equivalent..

I was reading up on some Torsen FAQs, and it seems all are built / designed with OEM Manufacturing provided gear oils / formulations.

Differential Gear Oil LX GL-5 75W-85 (1 Liter) - Toyota (08885-02606)
