Default Converting the shifter area to look more like the GSF?

While our shift **** and shift area doesn't look too bad, I think it would benefit greatly from an updated look. Our shifter still has the gates that look straight out of a Toyota Tacoma, and now all the newer autos have leather shift boots that cover the area, I think it gives it a much sportier look. Heck my friend's G37 from 2009 has it and it looks really good as well.

I'm thinking about buying the shift boot, chrome trim and **** from a GS-F and modify it to fit. Looks like it will with a little bit of precise cutting and some careful mounting.

What do you guys think? Of course I'll probably buy some jacked up 2IS center console to practice on before I would even think about hacking up the nice factory CF ISF piece.

I'd really like to have it's functioing TVD switch.

Looks as though a lot of reengineering is involved.

Doesn't seem like it would be too hard to do. But our cars interior look nice, especially the smoked cf trims in the later models. Imo

I think this is a great idea. Maybe find a takeout regular is250/350 center to test it out on or even build it up and then have it carbon coated, and sell the stocker to offset the cost. I do agree the upgraded handle and boot would look killer. Following to see how it turns out.

Some blue stitching or blue leather on the shift **** would nicely accent the blue F's and the blue on our steering wheels.

I don't know. I like the gated shifter. Always have.

I'm feeling that GSF boot with the blue stitching. Keep us posted and let us know how it comes out.

It's not bad, It just gives me a little more Camry vibe then I would like.

I'd love a black cf center console with a shift boot, I'd be interested but I can't imagine it being easy.

The shift boot just reminds me ho much I miss my manual, might have to buy a manual car again soon.

Will look great I was thinking of doing the same with my IS350. Be nice if they have after market.

I got ya. Same could be said for the new ES300h and the new Camrys. I think Toy/Lex just keeps it simple when it comes to shifter designs and universally uses them across most of their car lines.

I know a couple people that did shift boot modifications to a Camry, I'll see how they did it and post the process here.

Looks like it should work. Hopefully you'll have enough slack for the boot.

I kinda still like ours better as is, reminds me a bit of how most ferraris are: (i know this is more suitable for manual cars)

But at the same time, i do like the look with the boot also...

Precisely!

I agree I do like the look of the boot and the smaller shift ****. The first thing I did was replace mine with the IS300 ball. That thing has a special place in my heart!
