Are they squeeling or making more of a lower pitched groaning noise? If its the latter then I say it's normal if the pads are wet/dirty.

on second though I know I haven't run shims on certain cars when changing pads. no issues but they weren't high performance brakes either.

Its a high pitched squealing, i ordered a new set of pads thinking they needed to be changed. Just confused as to why it only makes noise occasionally.

I have Centric drilled rotors with Stoptech pads (came with the car from the previous owner) and they are a weird combination--hard to explain. The rotors oxidize like crazy after washing and need to be driven to dry off immediately. The one time I didn't drive them to dry them off after washing, the next day they were so rough I seriously thought there was something wrong with the brakes--they crunched and wobbled under braking. Once all the oxidation got cleared they were fine.

I've also got seriously annoying squeaking on what seems to be the passenger side at around 7-10 mph. Seems to go away for awhile when I wash them very well, but so far has tended to come back and is crazy annoying.

Since I didn't put them on, I can't say how the shims were treated or how they were broken in. They seem to have average levels of dust and seem to stop squeaking when washed.

Frustrating.

I'm having pretty much the exact same problem. The thing with rotors seems pretty normal even my oem ones "rusted".
