The service manual still says 1282B for everything including the latest models with a 2UR in them (LC500 & RC F). I am sure there are shops using 103 sealant, and it might work just fine too, but it's not listed as the sealant to use in the service manual. It's quite a bit cheaper for sure.
If there's anyone in Atlanta who needs this sealant for this repair, let me know. It surely doesn't take the entire tube to do this task; I have a lot left over.
I see, there must be a way to double-triple the life expectancy of this situation before it happens again. It is what it is for now until someone finds a much better remedy.

Anyways 1200$ would be out of pocket if they cannot get lexus corporate to issue out a goodwill repair for the holidays or if they won't discount it/aid in payment. I'm assuming they'll use the sealant they've always been using.
Anyone recently have prices of good independent shops or if any update in sealant type been used?

Not even me, and I have the dash out of my Supra to replace the OEM tweeters, and to remove the HVAC to replace all the 27 year old foam that keeps blowing out the vents.
Well looks like my valley plate is starting to seep on my 2008 F. I started losing some coolant about 6-8 months ago. Reservoir bottle gets low at about 2-3 months so its minor right now. I have about 153k miles, I am the 3rd owner. Vehicle has been maintained at Lexus its whole life and does not appear to have ever been done. I got a good run out of the factory sealant.
Update: The dealer I dropped my car off to says corporate is willing to give some financial aid. I will be paying around 800 instead of 1400. Also they broke an evap hose so I'll be waiting a little longer for that part to come in.
What is mentioned is that the original seal from factory is uneven which can contribute to the leak; they will by hand ensure that the same problem does not happen. They mention the valley plates they have done on other 1ur/2ur cars have not had any issues thus far -knock on wood-

That's hogwash. The factory tightens all the bolts at the same time to the same torque. It happens in seconds. So that explanation is completely useless. No dealership has the same tools as the factory.
It's very difficult to say exactly why the valley plate fails. It's extremely unlikely it's an assembly fault. If it were, they would have sorted it out by now.
Got the leaking upper tank replacement yesterday, I would like to recommend for those that had the elf recall work and were told “new radiator” to check, I would have to go back on my paperwork to see but I doubt mine was replaced with as much stuff was impacted. I’m much more pleased with the koyo radiator over the mishi i was fooling around with years back, that almost went in but decided to wait for the stock to fail. Time to see if my valley is leaking since I’ve decided to change the wp which I’ve had since the beginning jic it went out

It's done at 78k~ (no idea when it first started) the leak was enough to drop from full to low in the coolant reservoir within a matter of days. Did not ever notice it drop below the low point or over heat. Hopefully this helps others with price points and statistics.
